Arlington High School (AHS) Journalism Teacher Anne Hayman has been named the Washington Journalism Education Association (WJEA) Journalism Adviser of the Year. The Journalism Adviser of the Year is nominated by students in the teacher’s class and is selected by the previous year’s Journalism Adviser of the Year.
Hayman has been an AHS teacher since 1999 and currently teaches Online News Media, Yearbook, Beginning Journalism, and a section of Careers and Education.
“I try to support my students with whatever they need,” said Hayman. “It’s nice to know they appreciate the time that’s put into the classes, especially with Yearbook.”
Hayman was recognized on March 9 at the WJEA state conference at AHS. Two-hundred fifty students and 26 schools were represented at the conference.
