Definitions

Harassment

 

  • Unfair or unequal treatment because they are part of a known protected class - a group of people protected from discrimination and harassment under federal and state laws.
  • Unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature which denies or limits a student's ability to participate in or benefit from a school's program or activity.
  • Treatment which maliciously and intentionally causes physical injury, physical damage to or destruction of the property of the victim, or which threatens a person or group - and puts them in reasonable fear of harm to person or property

Intimidation
  • Implied or overt threats of physical violence. (WAC 495A-121-011)

Bullying

  • is any unwanted aggressive behavior(s) by another youth or group of youths, who are not siblings or current dating partners, that involves an observed or perceived power imbalance and is repeated multiple times or is highly likely to be repeated.
  • may inflict harm or distress on the targeted youth including physical, psychological, social, or educational harm.
